Want to help? At IBP, we've learned that one person can make a huge difference. Here are ways that kids around the world are raising money to ship books through IBP. Would you like to adopt a school or library overseas? There are several schools and libraries that are excited to receive books and you can help! How it works is that you click on school or library that you would like to "adopt" by sending them books through the International Book Project. It only costs $125 to "adopt" the school and you even get your own personalized adoption certificate. Really cool! Donate Now! How many books can you and your friends read? The way a read-a-thon works is you get "sponsorships" from friends and family for reading books. For example, if someone sponsors you for $1 per book, if you read 12 books, they would give you $12. And if you read 100 books, they give you $100! For $100 you could send one Mail-Bag of books. Donate Now! Do you know your world capitals? The geography bee helps you learn your world capitals and raise "sponsorships" for the International Book Project. This is a great way to get your entire class, Girl or Boy Scout troop, church youth group, or club involved in helping out and learning something really cool. How it works is that you download the world capitals sheet at the link provided below. You cut each sheet along the lines until you have the world capitals folded up and put into in a hat. Each person takes a turn and picks out a piece of paper and on that paper is the country name and the world capital. The person who is picking must name the capital of the country they picked. If they cannot name the capital they are out of the game. The person who is after the person eliminated can answer the missed world capital as their turn and not pick. The last two people left must answer their countries capital correctly and when someone misses their capital, the last person must answer that missed country capital and the one they pick from the hat. If they answer both correctly, they are the winner! If you have each person who participates donate $5 to enter and there are 10 people participating in the bee, you've raised $50 for the International Book Project and learned your world capitals. Really Cool! Donate Now! A penny pot is a place to collect your extra change. Drop in your extra pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, and you'll be surprised at how quickly it adds up. Every penny counts, and when you save your pennies you can send them to us to help ship books through the International Book Project. You can use your own bank, or make the one here. Donate Now! |
